When you custom order an ancient qin, we use different parts of the same ancient wood — the heartwood with the most uniform grain for the qin body, and the beautifully textured sapwood for the winder. The same wood density, same year, same natural drying history gives both almost identical natural frequencies (approx. 75-110Hz). When qin strings vibrate, the winder produces a weak resonant response simultaneously, forming a physical "acoustic resonance."
